They say home is where the heart is and for me it is definitely the West Coast of New Zealand and our own slice of paradise here on the Punakaiki Coastline at Breakers.
We’ve just had a week away in Melbourne, Australia and whilst we had a fantastic time on our holiday, it was wonderful to be back home and fall asleep to the sounding of the breaking waves and awaken in the morning to birds chirping and singing their morning songs.
Our walk around the grounds this morning was very pleasant with the sun out, casting some fantastic shadows in the gardens. There were beautiful sunny skies and it was great to see all the flowers blooming and the new spring growth on the trees and shrubs.
There was just one thing missing from our walk along the beach after breakfast – our dogs. They are still on holiday with friends in Franz Josef. It seemed strange to be walking on the beach without them. All the same it was relaxing although there were a few moments of unplanned exertion when chased by the odd rogue wave coming up the beach!
The West Coast of New Zealand – it holds my heart. I love living here!
