Nine Years at Breakers

Breakers Boutique Accommodation

Zipidy do da zipidy day my oh my it’s a beautiful day………

Big celebrations today – well ok not really but totally stoked just the same and maybe we’ll go out for dinner but today we’ve had Breakers for nine years – nine whole years Wahoo!

Moved here from Queenstown back in 2004 and after a couple of days hands on to feel my way around, on the 18th of October the previous owners moved out and left me to it.

Breakers and views to Tasman Sea

Total learning curve but when you live with paradise at your doorstep the mountains you think you have to climb turn out to be just little manageable bumps.

Breakers has given us the opportunity to meet some of the most wonderful people from all over the world.  Considering we deal predominately with the international market, many of our guests have returned – some three or four times.  That is a big ask to come back to NZ let alone come back to stay with us, with so much of the country to see.  Many of our guests have become our friends and we keep in contact via email or Facebook – the power of the internet – it to can be a wonderful thing.

We have also made some wonderful friends through working in the Tourism Industry and discovered some wonderful things to see and do on the West Coast.  Lastly but by no means least Stephen and I met after my move to the West Coast and were married so guess that would never have happened either.  Definitely a cause for celebration.

Wherever you are – wishing you a fantastic day and hope one day you get the opportunity to:

Nine Mile beach and rocky outcrop West Coast

“come share our little slice of paradise”

Jan and Stephen run Breakers Boutique Accommodation on the Great Coast Road north of Greymouth – voted #1 by Tripadvisor for accommodation in the region.  Nine years on – guess doing something right 🙂

Congrats Jan & Stephen, wow, nine years, heck time flies. Seems like only a few months ago that you and Jeddy Boy called in to see us on your way north to take over at Breakers. Still can’t believe that we’ve been in Franz Josef for thirteen years. Always love coming up to visit you guys and venture out on the various walking and/or mountain bike tracks in your area. You’ve introduced us to some absolute gems. We wish you, Stephan and The Boys all the best for the coming years.

I remember that day fondly also. Jeddyboy loved you guys. We love having you come visit and certainly enjoy getting out and about with you and uncovering more of the wonderful discoveries hidden on the West Coast.

    Dear Jan,
I am a very lazy Guy in wirting and can find no better words than You wrote!

My version of Your two sentences.

“Breakers has given us the opportunity to meet two of the most wonderful people from NZ and two of our Hosts have become our friends and we keep in contact via email or Facebook – the power of the internet – it to can be a wonderful thing.”

    Hugs Franz

Franz – you are a delight and most definitely a big part of the reason we do this. You tickled us pink with your first contact after you got home and staying in touch has been just magic. Can’t wait to come and visit you and Tina – and Nadine too of course! Hugs back at ya!
