They say the early bird catches the worm but in this instance it is the early bird catches the wave.

Perfect conditions off Nine Mile for surfing over the long weekend so the hearty made the most of the weather and the great surf to get out and catch some waves.

Love the moody sky and colour density – surfing for all 4 seasons over here!

Yes Pam – air temperature may be cooler in winter months but often beautiful days so nothing than extra clothing or thermals doesn’t fix – no matter what your activity preference. 🙂

Great captures Stephen… really good action shots… I’m amazed that even with swim suits these guys are in the water this time of the year… but then some have blood far thicker than others…. great post…

Thanks Rob, knowing how good your photos are your comments mean a lot! When you say “swimsuits” though – these are full on winter wetsuits including head gear for some. They are keen though – maybe they are running on adrenaline – helps keep them warm.

  3. Great action shots! –Curt
