Coal Creek Falls Waterfall Walk

With the cleaning finished and some time on our hands before our new guests start arriving we head out to walk Coal Creek Falls Waterfall walk.  A good option when time is not on our side.

Taking the short drive from home to the rural village of Runanga – Home of Champions.  The walk begins at the back of the township.

It is a gorgeous day for a walk in the bush.  The greens are outstanding – the forest so alive.  You’ll look at the photos and think they aren’t real but trust me, that is exactly what it looked like – really vibrant with the light coming through and putting highlights in the trees.

It is a little bit like walking in an enchanted forest – where are the fairies hiding…..

The trees tower high above us, the leaves sparkling in the sunshine.

The boys enjoy the walk as much as we do – certainly plenty of smells about to keep them interested.

Eventually the waterfall appears in all her glory and while Stephen heads down to take the photos, the boys and I just enjoy the surroundings.

Some more waterfall snaps and it’s time to head back to reality.

The walk is just as beautiful heading back out as it was coming in although the boys are keen to keep heading down to the creek and having had heavy rain over the weekend there is quite a bit of debris in the creek so don’t really want them in there getting stuck.  Their persistence is to be admired considering how often Mum is saying NO.
