Evening Rock Hop – 8 Mile Beach to 9 Mile Beach

8 mile beach walk

Another gorgeous evening and perfect opportunity to take my parents, visiting from Invercargill for the Xmas break, for an explore out on the rocks.

Not just any rocks though – 8 mile beach to 9 mile beach.  Well actually it wasn’t our intention – we just kept walking and before we knew it, it made more sense to well just keep walking and end up at the 9 mile beach and home.

The walk starts out across a stony beach before we end up rock hoping round the bottom of the cliffs and opens out to the 9 mile beach.

Gorgeous down here and fun picking our way across the rocks and tidal pools.  The dogs enjoy checking out the possibilities of treasures in the pools – they are forever hopeful that one day – maybe just one day, they will find something……

9 mile rocks

Round the corner and the 9 mile beach opens out for us – home sweet home.  Gorgeous walk in the sunshine and great to showcase yet more of our area especially when it is right at our back door.

Jan and Stephen run Breakers Boutique Accommodation on the Great Coast Road north of Greymouth.  They enjoy getting out and exploring the many treasures that make up this region.
