Welcome to Autumn

The first day of autumn dawns with clear skies but a cooler start to the morning than we have been used to lately.  Never fear once the sun comes up she shines her smile to warm the air and balance is restored.

Stephen heads down to the beach while I look after the guests and their breakfast requirements.  The sea is very big of late with the current moon phase and despite my warnings, someone comes back rather wet.

With the breakfasts done and guests headed off to continue their exploration of the West Coast, we load the car with the dogs and head to the 10 mile for a walk up the valley.

So beautiful up here with just enough cloud hanging in the mountains to add some atmosphere to the skies.

The boys love their runs up the valley – our go to place for a good leg stretch with it being so close to home.

10 mile creek and small waterfall

Very peaceful with just the sound of the creek gurgling as she makes her way down the valley and out to the sea.

Stephen and the boys have a compulsory dip in the waters to cool off – while I am happy just to spectate before it is time to head back out and home – feeling refreshed and revived ready for our new guest arrivals.

Welcome Autumn – nice to see you again.

Jan and Stephen run Breakers Boutique Accommodation on the Great Coast Road north of Greymouth.  Together with their trusty companions Nico and Ziggy, they enjoy getting out and about and exploring the wonders of the West Coast.

Love Autumn, my favourite season. Looking forward to seeing the West Coast in all it’s Autumn glory. What a lovely day you had.

Our favourite too Pam. We don’t get the colour changes with the majority of the trees but still beautiful – nice temperatures and often lovely settled weather.

I love the cooler relief of autumn, although here it doesn’t change that much until winter. Your photos are always stunning but I thought it was time I told you that again, since I especially LOVE that shot of the sandy water splashes/droplets! 🙂

Thanks Jane. It is cooler here in the mornings but that is about it – seems to get warmer in the late afternoon/ evening and we often enjoy eating al fresco in the month of March. Yes that droplet photo is priceless – I enjoy because I know someone got spectacularly wet lol

  3. Mama says:

Stunning photography as always, and that droplets one certainly is priceless.Lol😍
