Saturday saw Blackball came alive with the sound of running water
running…….
water……..
and firemen
Blackball Volunteer Fire Brigade played host to the West Coast Provincial Fire Brigade Association water challenge (WCPFBA).
It was a great turnout with teams from Greymouth, Runanga, Brunner, Kumara, Hokitika and as far afield as Darfield and Rangiora in Canterbury.
Blackball turned on a stunning day of weather and a very entertaining event.
There was plenty for everyone to see – if you didn’t mind the possibility of getting a little wet……
The local teams did really well with Runanga A taking out the 2 man event
and Greymouth team in the fours.
It was a privilege to see all these guys and girls in action – in a fun event, rather than a disaster. They all do an amazing job and we would be lost without them so thanks heaps to every one of them up and down the West Coast and in fact to all our volunteer firemen countrywide.
Jan and Stephen run Breakers Boutique Accommodation on the Great Coast Road north of Greymouth. They enjoy getting out and about and exploring the West Coast and supporting any community events.
we certainly are indebted to the many wonderful men & women up & down our beautiful country who who are always there when needed.

Wish they’d do something like that around here. Looks like great fun. Firefighters are the best!
